Lucile Brockenbrough Holloway Booker, widow of Erasmus Derwin Booker, of Farnham, Virginia died Thursday, November 3, 2016. Born June 14, 1915 in Port Royal, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Fannie Powers and Cleveland Amiss Holloway.
She is survived by two sons; Erasmus Derwin Booker, Jr. (Mary) of White Stone and William Holloway Booker (Anne) of Richmond and Farnham. She is also survived by four grandchildren; William Holloway Booker, Jr. (Lori), Erasmus Derwin Booker, III (Deborah), Margaret Jennings Booker-Baker (Stephan), all of Richmond and Elizabeth Randolph Booker Staub (Brian) of Virginia Beach. And she is survived by six grandchildren: William Holloway Booker, III, Charlotte Anne Carrington Booker, Elijah Judson Booker and Sarah Jennings Baker, all of Richmond and twins, Lucile Carrington and Anne Randolph Staub of Virginia Beach.
Lucile graduated from Mary Washington College in 1937 and was certified in library science from William and Mary College in 1941. For 22 years she taught a number of subjects including Government and French in the school systems of Northumberland, Caroline and Richmond Counties retiring as a full time Librarian from Rappahannock High School in 1973. From 1973-1979, she worked part-time in the library of Rappahannock Community College in Warsaw.
From an early age, she was active in the Episcopal Church, first at St. Peter’s in Port Royal and then at North Farnham Episcopal where she was involved with the Episcopal Church Women and the Altar Guild. Over the course of many years, she was part of many historical organizations including the Northern Neck, Northumberland and Caroline Historical Societies, Historic Port Royal, the Mary Ball Washington Museum and Library, Cobbs Hall Chapter, NSDAR, the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Virginia and the APVA.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm at North Farnham Episcopal Church. Interment will be at Farnham Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at the North Farnham Episcopal Church Parish Hall one hour prior to the service.
