Mariam Mani Crow
April 22, 1952 to July 9, 2016
Born on April 22, 1952 in Tehran Iran. She came to this country for a short stay but began to love every aspect of it. She worked for Marriott for a good part of her life and rose quickly through the ranks from waitress to manager because of an unrivaled work ethic. But, the biggest joy of her life was spent operating her own place, the Crow’s Nest Café in Warsaw. She will be ever remembered for the smiling face she embraced each day with serving her beloved customers. There was something special inside her and everyone who came in contact with her felt it. An obituary will never capture the specialness of this woman. This picture is of her beautiful wedding dress. She traveled on a bus to and from Washington. One day she met a woman who was crying because she did not have enough money for a wedding dress. On that bus the next day, Mariam handed her this dress. If you were not lucky enough to meet this woman you now know who she was.
She is survived by her husband Lon Crow and her sisters Mitra Seraj, Ziba Vossoughi, Khandan Geisssew, Minoo Vosoughi and their husbands and one brother Jamshid Mani and his wife. She is also survived by her mother in law Alice Crow and father in law Clarence Crow who made her dream of owning her own restaurant a reality, and her sister in law Susan Crow Rogers and her husband. She also has a plethora of very gifted nieces and nephews who are destined to make the world a better place. But the simple truth is her family was never confined to blood/marriage related people. She became a part of the lives of virtually hundreds of people throughout her short life and, unfortunately, her passing will leave voids in each. There will be no services but she had two favorite charities. One was the Haven in Warsaw and the other one was St Judes Hospital for Children. If friends are so inclined, they can give donations to these institutions or any institution focused on making lives better. There is no better way to honor her selflessness than to do that.
